About Dr. Hart:
Gilbert R. Hart, D.M.D., F.A.G.D., was raised in San Diego, California. He served in the United States Army from 1967-1969. When stationed in Vietnam, he served with the 44th Medical Brigade, assigned to the 137th Medical Detachment of the 9th Infantry Division. After his military service, Dr. Hart received both his B.S. degree in microbiology and his M.S. degree in nutrition from San Diego State University. He then taught nutrition at San Diego State University and the San Diego Community College District.
Dr. Hart and his family moved to St. Louis in 1978 to attend Washington University's Dental School. He received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from Washington University in 1982. While beginning his private general practice in St. Louis, Dr. Hart served as a clinical instructor at the Washington University School of Dental Medicine.
Since 1982 Dr. Hart has been a member of the Greater St. Louis Dental Society, serving two terms on the Board of Directors. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and earned his Fellowship status in 1994. Currently, he is serving as a St. Louis Delegate to the House of Delegates of the Missouri Dental Association. In addition, Dr. Hart serves on the Advisory Board to the St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, in the Dental Technologies Department. Dr. Hart is a member of the American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, and the Missouri Emergency Response Identification Team (M.E.R.I.T.) and has been since its inception. He and his office team participate in the St. Louis program for underprivileged children, "Give Kids A Smile!", as well as visiting local schools to educate children about dental health.
His special interest is Cosmetic Dentistry. It is most rewarding and satisfying to improve an individual's smile and self-esteem. When a person has self-esteem, he is happier and is a more productive member of society. Treatment of this kind is an art form and requires the dentist to have special skills and a more speciallized education in this field.
Dr. Hart and Nancy, his dental hygienist wife of 38 years, have a son and a daughter, as well as two granddaughters. They have practiced together since 1985, promoting a strong sense of excellent quality dentistry, high standards, honesty, and professionalism to their patients and their families in a relaxed and comfortable environment. His time away from the office is spent as an Elder for Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, with his family, and some time devoted to golf and fishing!
